Leaders from various countries on Thursday (January 23, 2025) called for action on artificial intelligence and reforms as they brainstormed during the five-day World Economic Forum Annual Meeting.

In a special address, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez called for a reform of social media governance across the European Union to curb misinformation and cyber harassment.

The third day of the World Economic Forum saw a windfall for Telangana as the government signed MoUs worth thousands of crores with the prominent being an investment of ₹45,500 crore by Sun Petrochemicals, a leading energy company, which would develop three Pumped Storage Hydro Power projects in the districts of Nagarkurnool, Mancherial, and Mulugu.

On the other hand, Maharashtra signed 54 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The total investment is worth ₹15.70 lakh crore, with an expected creation of 15.95 lakh jobs across the state.

    AWS to invest USD 8.3 billion in cloud infrastructure in Maharashtra by 2030

    Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced plans to invest USD 8.3 billion into cloud infrastructure in the AWS Asia-Pacific (Mumbai) Region in Maharashtra, to spruce up cloud computing capacity in India.

    The infusion is part of AWS’s larger USD 12.7 billion planned investment for India by 2030, which was announced in May 2023.

    “AWS… announced its plan to invest USD 8.3 billion into cloud infrastructure in the AWS Asia-Pacific (Mumbai) Region in Maharashtra, to further expand cloud computing capacity in India,” Amazon’s cloud computing unit said in a release.
