With a slow start and consistent efforts, a woman weighing 500 pounds surprised herself when she lost 200 pounds in a span of 2 years without needing any
weight loss
drug like
Ozempic
. While being heavier came with its own set of meanness and criticism from the world,
Jeanine Raine
being a person with a positive mindset endured it all, but she always thought her voice was quieter because she was bigger.
Her remarkable weight loss journey began when she started having physical discomfort in the form of
back pain
and knee problems. However, it wasn’t easy for her to start with her
fitness journey
when her nutritionists and even her primary care doctor told her the amount of weight she needed to lose was impossible.
Small diet changes, big results
Determined to rewrite her story, she took advice from another healthcare provider who believed in small and sustainable changes. With this new guidance, Jeanine replaced fast food with
home-cooked meals
and swapped sugary treats for healthier alternatives, like sparkling water and frozen yogurt bars.
As she started to cut her portion sizes and added
healthy alternatives
, her cravings subsided, and she started prioritizing the right foods for her body. “The food that I put in my body now doesn’t make me feel sluggish. I have energy. I don’t wake up tired. I don’t have high blood pressure anymore,” she told New York Post.
Taking baby steps: How she started her fitness journey
On Raine’s first day in a gym, she struggled to do even five minutes in treadmill, but she decided to take tiny steps.
“The first day I went to the gym, I couldn’t even do five minutes on the treadmill. My back was hurting me, but I was just like, ‘You know what? I made it. I made it to the gym.’ And I said, ‘Even if I did five minutes today, maybe tomorrow I could do seven,” she said.
Her determination paid off as she remained consistent in her workouts and soon she was able to increase the duration and intensity. “Eventually, the weight started coming off, and the eating got easier … Before I knew it, I was down 70 pounds,” she said.
Taking on the jump rope challenge
With each tiny step, Raine made progress in her weight loss journey as she added weights, hiking, and
jump rope
to her routine. She shared how she couldn’t do a single jump when she started with jump rope but could eventually do it with ease.
“When I started this journey I really wanted to get into fitness. And I mean all aspects of fitness. I wanted to try out as much such as I could so physical activity could be a daily part of my life. When I tried jump roping it was so hard. Like I was in shock that I couldn’t do a single jump. I was discouraged at first but then I remembered no part of this journey has been easy. I would have to work for it just like I had to work on my nutrition and getting to the gym consistently. As I continued trying I got better and better and really started to enjoy myself. I love learning new tricks and pushing my body to new limits!” she wrote in an Instagram post.
