Rudra Bose, a 38-year-old PR consultant with over 15 years of experience, found himself stuck in a common situation: a love for food paired with a lack of physical activity. His journey from being a self-proclaimed foodie to a fitness enthusiast who shed 25 kilos is not just a story of
weight loss
but one of
personal transformation
.
The turning point
Growing up as a bookworm and tech enthusiast, Rudra never prioritized physical fitness.
Over the years, his desk job and busy lifestyle led to gradual weight gain, accompanied by declining energy levels. It wasn’t a health scare or an epiphany that pushed him to change but rather a quiet realization that, while he had excelled in various roles—father, husband, and professional—he had yet to achieve something for himself.
Embracing a new mindset
Rudra decided to prioritize his health and fitness, not to conform to societal standards but to feel healthier and happier in his own skin. He knew the biggest battles would be within, especially the mental hurdles of feeling it was too late to start or that his schedule was too packed. But with determination, he made the choice to begin, despite the challenges.
Making time for fitness
Starting small, Rudra committed to morning swims and brief workout sessions. He squeezed in 10- to 30-minute workouts each day and gradually increased the intensity. Turning his Netflix time into treadmill sessions, he transformed these small adjustments into consistent habits. Although his body initially resisted, Rudra’s persistence paid off. Despite obstacles, including a hernia surgery, he continued to mix up his workouts with swimming, cycling, and resistance training.
Shifting nutrition habits
Exercise was just one part of the transformation; Rudra also had to rethink his eating habits. As someone who loved indulging in rich dishes, the concept of
mindful eating
was new to him. He began to educate himself about nutrition, practicing portion control, and focusing on whole foods. Cutting out processed food and incorporating natural ingredients led to visible results, and he realized that healthy eating could be enjoyable. Cheat days became part of his balanced approach, making it a sustainable lifestyle rather than a temporary diet.
The results: fitness in progress
After two years of consistent effort, Rudra successfully lost and maintained over 25 kilograms of weight. He also gained muscle, energy, and confidence. His
fitness journey
transformed not just his body but also his outlook on life. From developing abs to finding renewed energy, Rudra’s journey is proof that fitness is not just about weight loss but about building a healthy, fulfilling lifestyle.
The ongoing journey
For Rudra, fitness is a continuous journey of self-improvement. He’s proud of how far he’s come but remains motivated to keep pushing further. The recognition he receives now isn’t just for losing weight but for the dedication and transformation he’s achieved. His story is a testament to how anyone can turn their life around with commitment, the right mindset, and the willingness to make small but impactful changes.
