An extremely busy lifestyle gives you little time to push yourself to the gym and when you finally get a couple of free hours, you would rather browse the phone for Instagram reels than step out for a workout.
With the arrival of winter, one is likely to get sedentary and stay indoors. This can make staying active throughout winter incredibly important as it helps maintain strength and balance, and helps boost our mood and energy.
Here are a few easy
indoor exercises
that require no equipment to keep yourself active and fit!
Warm-up
Before engaging in any exercise, including walking or jogging for an extended period, it’s important to warm up your body. This signals your muscles to prepare for the upcoming physical activity. Warm-up exercises include jumping jacks, high knees, butt kicks, and arm circles followed by a few basic stretches for all muscles.
Workout
Squat
The squat focuses on the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, and calves. The exercise can be performed on a flat floor. By standing, make sure that both your legs have equal space and sit backward like sitting in a chair, hold that position for a few minutes. Repeat it for 20 reps.
Push-up
Lay down on a mat and try to push your entire body upward using just the two arms as weight. If this is hard, use your knees on your ground along with the current position and try to do this for 10 reps.
Planks
Similar to push-ups, lay on a mat upward and hold the position by resting your elbows straight and using them as support for at least a minute. Follow it for 4 sets.
Lunges
Lunges
are a great lower-body exercise and it targets the quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, and calves. The various lunge forms include reverse lunges, walking lunges, side lunges, and front lunges. Make sure to keep your back straight and focus on your posture throughout the workout.
