India will take on Australia in the third Test at the Gabba in Brisbane. Ahead of the match starting on Saturday Indian bowling Coach Morne Morkel was seen bowling to R Ashwin and extracting bounce. The batters too practiced intensely in the net sessions.
Earlier Gabba pitch curator David Sandurski spoke to cricket.com.au “Different times of year makes it different, it can be a slightly different pitch.”
“Pitches later in the season might have a bit more wear and tear while ones early in the season usually are a bit fresher and might have a bit more in them,” Sandurski said.

“Generally speaking, we still prepare the pitch the exact same way every time to try and get the same good carry, pace and bounce that the Gabba is known for. We are just trying to make a traditional Gabba wicket like we do each year,” he added.
The last time India played in Gabba, they registered a famous three-wicket win to clinch the series for the second time in a row Australia.
The Border Gavaskar Trophy is currently tied 1-1 with India winning the opening Test at Perth only for Australia to claw back the advantage at Adelaide.
No fans at net sessions
At the Adelaide nets there were thousands of fans to watch the sessions however, in Gabba there were very few. After the Adelaide Test loss, Rohit explained why the team does not want the fans at the nets.
“You know, the net sessions are very private, and this was the first time I saw so many people during the nets. When you’re training, when you’re practising, there are a lot of conversations that happen, and those conversations are very private,” Rohit Said
We don’t want anyone to hear those conversations. It is as simple as that because there’s a lot of planning,” the 37-year-old added.
“There’s a lot of talking that happens. And the crowds are very close to that practice facility. There are five days of Test cricket. They can come and watch us there,” he laughed it off.
