PV Sindhu said she was very happy after getting off to a winning start in the India Open on Tuesday and thanked the fans for their constant support.
“I am very happy. First win, new year. I think it was important for me to get this win. Very happy that I was on the winning side. Also, home ground so it was very very important for me. I think the crowd was very nice. They were amazing. They were shouting for each and every point. Even when I was trailing, they were ‘never mind, never give up’. I am very thankful to them and I think overall, a very good start for me,” Sindhu said after her match.
“From starting point, they were supporting so I think they gave me that boost and confidence. So I hope it continues,” she added.

Sindhu on Tuesday defeated Sung Shuo Yun of Chinese Taipei 21-14, 22-20 in straight games.
On Monday, PV Sindhu had said she is seeking to find joy again in the sport that has given her so much. The oddly new feeling of restarting her tour without an Olympic medal around her neck. And she will do that with a new coach in her corner.
Sindhu had confirmed that she has recently begun training under Irwansyah, the former Indonesia men’s singles coach who has made his move to India. Irwansyah is credited with the rise of Indonesia’s men’s singles stars Jonatan Christie and Anthony Ginting, who have both been as high as No 2 in the world.
Sindhu, as well BAI General Secretary Sanjay Mishra, confirmed that Irwansyah will be taking up the role of India’s women’s singles coach.
