Singer Liam Payne‘s death at the age of 31 has shocked his fans and followers worldwide. As per reports, he fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. Liam rose to fame as a member of the pop boy band
One Direction
that gave several chart topping numbers for music lovers.
Liam had spoken about his
mental health
several times in the past. He was always vocal about his struggle with mental health.
“It’s difficult when you have the level of fame that we had in the band”
The former One Direction singer had revealed in an interview that he used alcohol to cope with the massive success One Direction received at one point. “There have been a lot of people in trouble with mental health that aren’t really getting the help that they need, and I think that’s a bit of a problem in our industry,” he told Men’s Health.
“But there were certain parts of it where it just got a little bit toxic”
Though Liam was happy with the success and the massive global attention he received, sometimes he found it extremely difficult to handle. “I was [drunk] quite a lot of the time because there was no other way to get your head around what was going on. I mean, it was fun. We had an absolute blast, but there were certain parts of it where it just got a little bit toxic,” he had revealed once.
When he had revealed having suicidal thoughts
Liam had opened up on having
suicidal thoughts
in one episode of The Diary of a CEO podcast. “I was worried how far my rock bottom was going to be,” he said. “Where’s rock bottom for me? And you would never have seen it. I’m very good at hiding it. No one would ever have seen it… There is some stuff that I have definitely never, never spoken about. It was really, really, really severe. And it was a problem. And it was only until I saw myself after that, I was like, ‘Right, I need to fix myself.’ “
He had spent 100 days in a rehab
Last year in July, Liam had revealed that he spent 100 days in a rehab facility in Louisiana. “I just kind of feel like I’ve got more of a grip on life and everything that was getting away from me. I just feel like I’ve got more of a handle on it,” he had revealed in a YouTube video. “I just needed to take a little bit of time out for myself, actually, because I kind of became somebody who I didn’t really recognize anymore. And I’m sure you guys didn’t either. I was in bad shape up until that point and I was really happy to kind of put a stopper to life and work.”
Mental health challenges are prevalent among celebrities due to the immense pressure, public scrutiny, and high expectations they face. Constant attention, social media criticism, and the need to maintain a public image can lead to stress, anxiety, and depression. The demanding nature of their work, long hours, and frequent travel can also contribute to burnout and emotional exhaustion.
