Another study published in China recently compared the risk of diabetes in people with Vitamin D deficiency and noted that it is very common to develop diabetes even if their blood sugar levels are maintained.

The role of Vitamin D

Vitamin D has multiple effects on the human body including protecting the nervous system, brain functions, skin health, bone health, and many more.
Vitamin D has anti-inflammatory properties that protect the brain from inflammation and also help protect brain cells from damage and promote the repair of cells. It also regulates insulin levels and creates resistance that is linked to the increase in risk of dementia.

Vitamin D lowers blood sugar levels and helps in regulating weight and obesity which is a major risk factor for diabetes.
