Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2025, Round 1 Live Updates, Gukesh D vs Anish Giri, Pentala Harikrishna vs Arjun Erigaisi, Praggnanandhaa R vs Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Leon Luke Mendonca vs Vincent Keymer: For the first time after becoming the youngest world champion in the history of chess, 18-year-old Gukesh will be on the board at the Tata Steel Chess Tournament in Wijk Aan Zee in the Netherlands.
Gukesh was in New Delhi on Friday accepting the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award from President Droupadi Murmu and flew directly to the Netherlands to play in an event which has been called the Wimbledon of chess.
The 14-player Masters field will see five Indian players in action: besides Gukesh, Pentala Harikrishna, Arjun Erigaisi, Praggnanandhaa and Leon Luke Mendonca will also be in action.
The Challengers tournament will see two Indian players: Divya Deshmukh and R Vaishali.
