The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday announced the warm-up matches ahead of the T20 World Cup starting June in the USA and the Caribbean.
The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team will play Bangladesh in their sole practice match ahead of the marquee tournament on June 1. The venue for the game is yet to be declared. The fixture will cap off the 16 matches in the lead up to the tournament.
Pakistan and England on the other hand have no warm up games, with the two teams set to lock horns in a four-match T20I series this month.
“In a departure from the previous cycle, teams can now choose to play up to two warm-up matches, depending on their arrival time at the event,” the ICC wrote in their press release. “These warm-up fixtures will be 20 overs per side and will not have international T20 status, allowing teams to field all members of their 15-player squad.”
Among the other notable fixtures is Australia facing co-hosts West Indies on May 30 in Trinidad and Tobago while South Africa will play an intra-squad game in Florida on May 29.
