Saira Banu shares health update, to undergo physiotherapy after being diagnosed with Pneumonia

Veteran actor Saira Banu was diagnosed with pneumonia lately and has been having blood clots in her calves. Recently, she has issued a health update. The senior actress has said that her health condition has improved quite considerably and she is focusing all her energy on recovering from this.
Saira Banu shared that she is recovering well after the health scare and informed that she was getting back to normal. She also mentioned that blood clots have dissolved and she is undergoing physiotherapy.
The 80-year-old actress had been battling health issues since the demise of her husband, the yesteryear actor Dilip Kumar, in 2021. Speaking about her recent hospitalization, she felt an intense emotional bond with her deceased husband.
In a social media post, she remembered their dreamy wedding 58 years ago by writing, “From my hospital bed, I was flooded with nostalgic memories of our special day.”. On the night of October 11, our wedding anniversary, the song ‘Do Sitaron Ka Zameen Par Hai Milan Aaj Ki Raat’ played on the radio endlessly. It was a day I wished would never end. If someone had told me, ‘O Saira, you’ve got wings; you can fly,’ I would have believed them without question. That’s how magical that day felt, 58 years ago.

Pneumonia is a very serious respiratory infection in old age, since the immune system is weak and there is a pre-existing disease also. It can result in very serious complications if it is not treated immediately.
Complications in elderly
Respiratory Failure: Inability of lungs to breathe in oxygen.
Sepsis: Severe infection throughout the body.
Bacteremia: Bacteria enter into the bloodstream.
Lung Abscesses: Accumulation of pus inside the lung tissue.

Kidney Failure: Organs shut down from infection or oxygen deficiency.
Lung Failure: Extreme damage to breathing capacity.
Heart Rhythm Problems: Heartbeats irregular from systemic stress or low oxygen levels.
Supportive care for pneumonia includes physiotherapy to enhance lung function and mobility, as well as pulmonary exercises to maximize oxygen intake.
The lifestyle changes include quitting smoking to reduce lung injuries and promote mobility to prevent blood clots that may fill the lungs and enhance lung space.
