Paris Paralympics 2024 Live Updates: The Paris Paralympics Opening Ceremony will be held on Wednesday.
Paris Paralympics 2024 Live Updates: Sporting action will return to Paris this week with the 2024 Paralympic Games and Wednesday’s opening ceremony in the city will kickstart the proceedings for the marquee event.
Thomas Jolly, who structured the opening ceremony for the Paris Olympics last month, will again be in charge during today’s festivities for the 17th Paralympics Games. Held at the Place de la Concorde and the lower Champs Élysées, the opening ceremony will have about 50,000 people in attendance.
“While the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony will be the first of its kind, its monumental and popular concept is, for me, first and foremost a magnificent source of inspiration. From the Champs-Elysées to Place de la Concorde, I look forward to creating this spectacle that will transform the heart of Paris, with performances that have never been seen before. A spectacle that will showcase the Paralympic athletes and the values that they embody. A spectacle that will unite spectators and television audiences worldwide around the unique spirit of the Paralympic Games,” Jolly said on the occasion.
The Games will be at its strongest with representation from 168 delegations. The Indian interest in the Games will also be at its highest, with 84 athletes in the fray.
