Ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, the Australian players were asked if given a chance which Indian player will they slot into the Australian team. While the likes of Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head picked at least one player, skipper Pat Cummins said no one in the Indian team will slot into this Aussie side.

“No one,” Cummins said when he was posed with the question by Fox Cricket.

“It’d be a pretty strong batting lineup having Smith, Marnus and Virat in your top order,” Lyon said while Marsh picked Rishabh Pant.

Head, meanwhile, picked India skipper Rohit Sharma and Scott Boland chose Jasprit Bumrah.

The world No. 2 India are heading into the five-Test Border-Gavaskar series, starting in Perth on Friday, following their whitewash at home against New Zealand, which ended their 12-year unbeaten run in their own backyard.

Festive offer

India are already up against it with a thumb fracture ruling out top-order batsman Shubman Gill from the first Test. Gill fractured his thumb when he was fielding during a match simulation session in Perth on Saturday.

India’s batting line-up will definitely see changes with KL Rahul set to make it to the playing XI due to Gill’s injury. India will also be without skipper Rohit Sharma who will miss the first Test due to the birth of his second child.

Bumrah, the vice-captain of the team, will take over the reins in Rohit’s absence. Rohit is set to play the second match, a pink-ball Test, that begins in Adelaide on December 6.

Also, Dhruv Jurel, the wicket-keeper, may get a look in purely as a batsman. Jurel made 80 and 64 in a tour game against Australia A and looked the most assured batsman at the crease.
