In response to Australia’s 445 runs, first innings score India ended with 51/4 at stumps on Day 3. While the likes of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins did hit their mark right from ball one there were a few soft dismissals from the Indian batters where they poked at ones that could have been left alone.

The batting display has exposed the team to the threat of Follow on. “We got to take six wickets first before we think about that (on follow-on),” said Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh after the game. The 33-year-old also took a stunning catch at gully of Shubman Gill who, drove a ball way outside the stumps, and was amongst the dismissals which could have been avoided from the Indian perspective. “Since I have come back to the side, I get the gully. Cameron Green is probably the best there.”

Alongside Gill, Virat Kohli chased a ball that was way outside his stumps against Josh Hazlewood and gave a knick to keeper Alex Carey. Kohli on either side of his ton in Perth has been in lean form. “He is a very big wicket, one of the greatest players ever,” Marsh would say about Kohli’s wicket.

Compared to Indian bowlers, Australian bowlers bowled a tad bit full to induce the drives from the Indian batters which later resulted in edges from the same. Appreciating the bowlers Marsh said, “We bowled really well. Today was no different. We have some great bowlers who keep attacking. Hope they continue.”

Australia is in a dominant situation in this game however, one factor that can stop them from taking the lead in the series is rain. We were always asking about radar checking the weather. Hope it stays away for next two days,” Marsh would reveal. “frustrating. Big series, also for spectators. I think there can be a result. There is always rain but hope sunshine comes. It can happen in Brisbane,” he added.
