Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim says he’d pick 63-year-old goalkeeping coach over Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford has not been included in Manchester United’s matchday squad in the last six weeks. Out-of-favor Rashford has not played for his hometown club since December 12 and seems firmly out in the cold under the United manager

“It’s always the same reason – the training, the way I see a footballer should do in life. It’s every day, every detail,” Amorim told reporters, when asked why Rashford was not available against Fulham.

Manchester United defeated Fulham 1-0 on Sunday.

“If things don’t change, I will not change. It’s the same situation for every player, if you do the maximum and right things we can use every player.

“You can see on the bench we miss a bit of pace on the bench, but I would put [Manchester United goalkeeper coach Jorge] Vital before a player who doesn’t give the maximum every day.”

With January Transfer window closing on February 3, the future of Marcus Rashford is unclear.

Rashford has posted a congratulatory post for his Manchester United teammates on his social media.

There has been reported interest from Saudi Arabia and Monaco, but no confirmation of an official bid.

The problem for Rashford and United is that he is only a year-and-a-half into a lucrative contract reportedly worth nearly $400,000 a week. Only the very richest clubs in the world could afford to match that salary and offer the sort of transfer fee United would be looking for to be able to make the type of signings Amorim needs to refresh his squad.
