Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin gave a shout-out to Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah during Coldplay’s concert in Mumbai on Saturday.
In the middle of the concert, Chris Martin said he will have to stop his concert as Bumrah wants to bowl at him.
“Hold on, we have to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play backstage,” he said.
“He says he needs to bowl at me now.”
Martin was then seen chanting the name of Bumrah. He further said: We’ll ask him to wait 15 minutes.”
Bumrah, who has been picked for India’s Champions Trophy squad has had a great series against Australia.
Bumrah took a total of 32 wickets across 5 Tests in Australia, became the fourth-fastest player to get 200 Test wickets in terms of balls bowled. He also was the first bowler in history to take 200 Test wickets at an average below 20.
Bumrah could not bowl in the crucial 5th and final test at Sydney after he suffered from back spasms on Day 2 which led to him leaving the ground to undergo scans.
Meanwhile, the speedster is likely to be featured in the group stage of next month’s Champions Trophy.
On Saturday, the selection committee chief Ajit garkar said it would be ‘nicer’ if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) explained the nature of Bumrah’s injury, which forced him out of action on the final day of the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this month.
“I know he was asked to off-load for five weeks, which is early first week of February if I am not wrong,” Agarkar said.
“And we will probably find out a bit more around that time. With regards to what his medical condition is, I am sure the BCCI might just put something out from the physio himself. It’s better if the medical department explains what exactly is wrong with him.”
