Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah was on Tuesday nominated for ICC’s player of the month for December alongside Australia’s Pat Cummins and South Africa’s Dane Paterson.
Bumrah was the standout performer for India in the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy, taking 22 wickets at an average of 14.22 in December. In the overall series, he snapped up 32 wickets across 5 Tests.
He took 9 wickets in both Brisbane and Melbourne Test matches, playing a big hand in helping India punch above their weight Down Under.

Bumrah could not bowl in the crucial 5th and final test at Sydney after he suffered from back spasms on Day 2 which led to him leaving the ground to undergo scans.
“He (Jasprit Bumrah) had a back spasms. The medical team is monitoring him. He had a scan. The medical team will update,” teammate Prasidh Krishan said at the end of Day 2.
“Frustrated to miss out. Sometimes, you have to respect your body. You can’t fight your body. Disappointing, I probably missed out on the spiciest wicket of the series,” Bumrah had said after Day 3 in Sydney which saw India concede the BGT to Australia after 10 long years.
Meanwhile, Australia captain ummins showcased fine form, claiming 17 wickets across three Tests against India at an average of 17.64. His best bowling performance came in Adelaide, a sensational 5/57, which helped the hosts secure a commanding 10-wicket victory. Cummins also contributed with the bat through crucial knocks of 49 and 41 in Melbourne.
South Africa’s Paterson’s bowling efforts against Sri Lanka and Pakistan were crucial in the Proteas’ successful campaign. He took 13 wickets in two Tests at an average of 16.92 as SA sealed a place against the Aussies in the World Test Championship final later this year.
