Jackie Shroff takes legal route to guard his signature ‘Bhidu’ and name; is this The Great Indian Kapil Show effect?
Jackie Shroff has followed in the footsteps of Bollywood actors Anil Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan. The actor has moved to the Delhi High Court to seek protection for his personality rights. In layman’s terms, Jackie Shroff has filed a petition in court stating that nobody can use his name, voice, personality traits, or even his signature word Bhidu without his permission. Before Jackie, Anil Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan had filed similar petitions in court. Also Read – DYK Manoj Bajpayee rejected Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas? Here’s why

Jackie Shroff moves to Delhi High Court
According to Bar and Bench, Jackie Shroff condemns derogatory remarks made against him through memes. In fact, reports state that Jackie’s name and voice have been used in some pornographic material. The report further states that few companies are selling merchandise under Jackie Shroff’s name, such as mugs with his photos, signed posters, and more. When people buy these products thinking they are endorsed by Jackie himself, it affects his credibility as a renowned personality. People who sell products using Jackie Shroff’s name without his permission are making tons of money, but it has eventually affected the goodwill of the actor, states Jackie’s counsel. Now there’s a possibility that the whole fiasco is related to Krushna Abhishek’s recent act in The Great Indian Kapil Show. Krishna played the character of Chunni Babu (originally essayed by Jackie Shroff) from Devdas when recently the cast of Heeramandi graced the talk show. Krishna mimicked Jackie, which was definitely a laugh riot, but it seems the veteran actor is not too fond of his mimicry and hence had moved to court to put a permanent end to such acts. A few days ago, Karan Johar also slammed a channel where an artist mimicked him in a comedy show which features Huma Qureshi as a judge. As more and more renowned Bollywood personalities are now getting vocal about the way they are mocked and mimicked on public platforms, it would be interesting to see how such talk shows and reality shows will survive as the main crux of comedy in such shows usually comes by imitating popular actors.
