In a new cycle under Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK will inevitably look at revamping their squad without entirely giving up on their legacy. With the 43-year-old Dhoni staying put for another season, CSK managed to retain their talisman without having to splurge a fortune. The new IPL rule allowing Indian internationals to bracketed in the uncapped category if they have gone five years without a BCCI contract or national team appearance helped CSK to secure Dhoni for as low as Rs 4 crore. CSK also retained all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for as high as 18 crore, alongside skipper Ruturaj, despite the 35-year-old recently retiring from T20Is. Shivam Dube and Matheesha Pathirana firmed up other retentions, leaving the side with one RTM card for the IPL Mega Auction.
