India Women vs Bangladesh Women (IND-W vs BAN-W) U-19 T20I Asia Cup Final Highlights: Riding on a stunning half-century from Gongadi Trisha and splendid all-round bowling performance, the India U-19 defeated Bangladesh U-19 by 41 runs to lift the first Women’s U-19 Asia Cup in Kwala Lumpur on Sunday.
Bangladesh captain Sumaiya Akter won the toss and put India to bat.
Barring Gangadi Trisha (52 off 47 balls; 5×4, 2×6), the Indian batters struggled to get going. Trisha held the one end but she didn’t get any support from the other. Trisha’s knock was studded with five crisp boundaries and two sixes.
If not for a quickfire cameos from Mithila Vinod (17 off 12 balls; 2×4, 1×6), India would not have crossed the 100-run mark. India posted 117 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs.
For Bangladesh, Farjana Easmin (4/31) was the wrecker-in-chief. Nishita Akter Nishi (2/23) picked up two wickets.
Chasing the modest target, the Bangladesh batters kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were bundled out for 76 runs in 18.3 overs.
Juairiya Ferdous (22 off 30 balls; 3×4) and Fahomida Choya (18 off 24 balls; 2×4) were the notable contributors for Bangladesh.
For India, Aayushi Shukla (3/17), Sonam Yadav (2/13), Parunika Sisodia (2/12) and VJ Joshitha (1/11) shared the spoils.
Gongadi Trisha was awarded Player of the Match for her match-winning half-century.
