India to witness only one out of four eclipses in 2025

NEW DELHI: There will be two solar eclipses and two lunar eclipses in 2025, but only one of them will be visible in India, according to officials from Ujjain’s Jiwaji Observatory.
Dr Rajendra Prakash Gupt, Superintendent of the observatory, said that the series of eclipses in 2025 will begin with a total lunar eclipse on March 14. “This event will not be visible in India as it will occur during the daytime here,” he explained, as reported by PTI.
The year 2025 will be a year of celestial events. The first eclipse of the year will be a total lunar eclipse on March 14, but it won’t be visible in India. The eclipse will be observable in parts of America, Western Europe, and across the Atlantic Ocean.
Later, on March 29, a partial solar eclipse will occur, but once again, India will miss out. This event will be visible in North America, Greenland, Iceland, Europe, and parts of Russia.

However, Indian skywatchers can look forward to the full lunar eclipse on September 7-8, which will be visible across India. This eclipse will also be seen in other parts of Asia, Europe, Antarctica, Australia, and the Indian Ocean region, making it a significant event for astronomy enthusiasts in India.
The final eclipse of the year will be a partial solar eclipse on September 21-22. This eclipse will only be visible in regions like New Zealand, the South Pacific, and West Antarctica.
The year 2024 witnessed four celestial events – a penumbral lunar eclipse, a total solar eclipse, a partial lunar eclipse, and an annular solar eclipse.
