How To Make Chambray Chevron Pattern Shoes
Who doesn’t want to learn how to make their own printed Chevron Shoes? As soon as the team saw these babies, we knew we had to make an awesome tutorial. We decided to make this super cheap DIY tutorial on how to make your own at home. Your friends will be sorry that they went out and spent too much on them! All you need is a plain canvas shoes (we chose Chambray), some fabric paint and a little bit of patience. You’ll get tons of compliments! The best part? You can say you made them yourself!
Both chambray and chevron patterns are having a moment right now. I decided to combine them both into a cute pair of sneakers. Here are the supplies needed:
- Sneakers-I found the pair I used at Walmart for under 6 bucks! I bought the ones in chambray, but they also had black and white available.
- Acrylic paint–I used a bright creamsicle orange color, but any color would do the trick.
- Chevron stencil–I printed a chevron pattern off the internet.
- Scissors–to cut out the stencil.
- Pencil–You will need a SHARP pencil to trace the chevron stencil.
- Needle–you will need a needle with a plastic ball on the end. This will be used to make the polka dots on the laces.
Step 1.
Remove the laces from the shoes.
Steps 2.
Place the “ball” end of your needle in paint and dab onto shoe laces. Repeat this process of dipping the needle and dabbing it on the laces until they are spotted.
Step 3.
Allow paint to dry and then repeat step 2 on both laces.
Steps 4.
Cut out your chevron stencil.
Step 5.
Press the stencil against the shoe and with a pencil. Trace around the stencil. Make sure to press down hard enough so that you can see the outline of the stencil.
Step 6.
Repeat step 5 on both shoes.
Step 7.
Paint the outline of the pencil tracing.
Step 8.
Continue this on both shoes. You may need to use a second coat of paint in order make the design stand out.
Steps 9.
Allow the paint to dry completely.
Step 10.
Re-thread the laces through the shoes and enjoy your new kicks!
