How To Do Newspaper Nails | Nail Art Designs
Nail art can be time consuming, and with today’s busy world, a quick and easy manicure is a must. Today we will teach you how to create newsprint nail polish, pretty cool huh? Stay tuned and you’ll be looking fancy in no time! We’ve mastered the art of doing it on any nail color because the newspaper print is generally dark when applied to any color (other than black or grey of course). Try a lighter color (like yellow) like the one below for best results. we also love the idea of going with a white or cream background to give your nails a truly authentic newspaper-esque design. Nail art doesn’t have to be stereotypical. Let’s get fancy!
How To Do DIY Newspaper Nail Polish
Alright so you’re ready for an awesome newspaper manicure. All you need are a few simple supplies and you’ll be making newspaper printed nails in no time. Here’s the skinny on how it’s done. Let’s make it happen, shall we?
Supplies for fancy fingers:
- Light colored polish
- Rubbing alcohol
- Newspaper
- Clear polish
Step 1: Base coat.
We will begin our journey to fabulousness by applying light colored polish on all our nails and letting them dry COMPLETELY! This is important, if it’s not completely dry the polish will be smudged. Use any color you like, as long as it’s light enough you will be able to see newsprint on top of it. We suggest white or cream, but a robins egg blue or mint green can also be a fun pop of color.
Step 2: Transfer the print.
Once completely dry, dip your finger into the alcohol. Quickly place the newsprint on the nail, as the alcohol evaporates quickly. This will transfer the ink from the print to your nail. Try not only with newsprint, but the comic section can make for some fun prints! Garfield is always a great choice. If you’re going to use a comic, use a white base coat for best results.
Step 3: Seal it!
To ensure the print doesn’t rub off, finish with a clear top coat after the alcohol has completely evaporated. This is the most important step, it will provide you with nails that won’t quit, and with our busy lives, we don’t have time for chips! Side note- Try Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat! It’s the fastest drying top coat I’ve found yet, and for $8, you can’t beat that.
