Sharmin Sehgal‘s role has been under the scanner and netizens have been pointing out ‘nepotism’ claiming that she bagged the web series only and only since he is Bhansali’s niece. There are many historical goofups too that have been going viral. But all this negative noise has only ensured that the latest Hindi web series stays on Netflix’s Top 10. It is said that Alia Bhatt was deeply attached with stories around Heeramandi after acting in the film Kalank under Dharma Productions. It was around the release of her film Gangubai Kathiawadi, where she got an opportunity to express interest in wanting to be part of Heeramandi at any cost. The actor told Sanjay Leela Bhansali that she’d do the job for free. “Give me a role, any role, in Heeramandi and I will do it for free,” she was quoted as saying by Bollywood Hungama. However, Bhansali refused her generosity and had said that if Alia will be a part of Heeramandi, she will be paid her market price. Heeramandi The Diamond Bazaar is set in Lahore of pre-independent India and tells the stories of the courtesans of Heeramandi. The Netflix original mega series, that marked Bhansali’s digital debut, has eight episodes and stars Manisha Koirala, Shekhar Suman, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Adhyayan Suman, Sharmin Sehgal, Fardeen Khan amongst others.

As for Alia Bhatt, she recently made a stunning appearance at Met Gala 2024 and will start shooting for her YRF spy film from July 2024. She will then move on to Love And War with Sanjay Leela Bhansali from 2025.
