Looking for a cheap but beautiful wall decor you can make in minutes? If you’re looking for a wall art idea you can customize anytime, then this tutorial is for you. Find out how you can make your own DIY hanging clipboard art with a few simple steps.
When living in a small, rented space it can be difficult to come up with ways to add personality to your home. Inspired by rustic English pub menus, this super simple DIY will add personality to your space, make it easy to change out prints and pictures you want to display in your home, and it’s very cost-effective.
What you’ll need for this DIY wall art:
- Clipboard(s) of your choice
- Prints or pictures to hang
- 3M Velcro strips or finishing nails and hammer
- Level (optional)
Step 1
Find a clipboard you like. I was drawn to the traditional wooden clipboard, but the possibilities really are endless!
Step 2
Decide where you want your clipboards to hang. I chose to put mine in a group of two and a group of three to add some continuity from our living space into our kitchen.
Step 3
Hang your clipboards! I used 3M Velcro strips mainly because they don’t leave any marks on the wall. Personally, I think the clipboards would look great hanging on exposed finishing nails.
Step 4
Choose your prints and clip them up! Find pictures and prints that fit within the length and width of your clipboards. Play around with sizing when you’re grouping your prints. Alternatively, you could use your hanging clipboards for to-do lists, reminders, notes, or to display your child’s artwork!
Bonus Idea:
If you want to hang something larger than your clipboard – especially if it’s something that’s difficult to frame, like a poster – try hanging it with traditional ‘bulldog’ binder clips! They add a finishing touch that can be otherwise lacking when large prints or posters are just stuck on the wall with tape or thumbtacks.
