DIY vases are fun things to put your creative touch on. This gold trimmed vase especially is one that will stand out from the rest. The best part is that is so easy and economical to make. In fact, this vase cost less than 7 dollars!
How To Make A Gold Trimmed Vase
Supplies Needed:
- Glass Vase–The one I used I bought at the dollar tree for only a buck. However I’ve also found that thrift stores seen to have these in stock all the time.
- Metallic Spray Paint–For this tutorial I used Krylon Paint Master in metallic gold. Any color would do the trick. However I personally recommend using a metallic spray paint rather than a matte spray paint because the sheen of the metallic paint will really make the vase “pop”. In particular recommend using gold paint because it has a rather “Luxe” feel to it.
- Blue Painters Tape–this is something that can be picked up in the painting aisle of your local store.
Step 1.
Make sure your vase is nice and clean. Any dirt or dust will affect the smoothness of the paint.
Step 2.
Place blue tape on the vase in your desired location. This step is where your creativity can come into play. Stripes, spirals…you name it!
Step 3.
Turn vase upside down so that the vase’s bottom is facing up. Then, using your metallic paint, apply a coat over the vase–aiming at the areas where the glass is exposed. Make sure to spray from about a foot back or else the paint is likely to puddle on the vase.
Steps 4-5.
Once the paint is evenly distributed over the vase, allow it to dry for 1-2 hours. Once the paint has COMPLETELY dried, repeat steps 3 & 4 in order to get a second coat of paint on the vase.
Step 6.
After the second coat of paint has dried, gingerly remove the blue tape from the vase. Once you have completed these steps you will have a chic and glamorous DIY vase. Congrats! Make sure to add a punch of color with fresh flowers and have fun displaying your bouquets in a Luxe gold trimmed vase!
