45th FIDE Chess Olympiad Round 11 2024 Live:  The Indian chess team is taking on Slovenia in the final round of the Chess Olympiad in Budapest after being all but assured of a gold medal at the prestigious Budapest event. The Indian women’s team, meanwhile, will have to beat Azerbaijan and hope that Kazakhstan slip up in the final round on Sunday. There are more tiebreak scenarios to keep an eye on as the day progresses.

Heading into the final round, India are on top of the standings in the open section with 19 points while China are second with 17 and Slovenia are third with 16. In the women’s section, India and Kazakhstan share top spot with 17 points (with India slightly ahead on tiebreakers) while USA and Poland are hot on their heels with 16 points.

The ‘strongest Indian team at Olympiad’ is on the brink of winning gold medal in open section as well as with the women’s category. In the open section India will face Slovenia in the final round, while women’s team will take on Azerbaijan. In the open section, the second-seeded Indian team need just a draw to secure a historic first-ever gold medal. Meanwhile, in the women’s section, top-seeded India will go up against Azerbaijan.
