6 home remedies to get rid of bad breath

Bad breath, or halitosis, is a common condition that can cause embarrassment and even social isolation. It affects people of all ages and is frequently brought on by poor diet, dental hygiene, or underlying medical conditions. Regular brushing, flossing, and drinking plenty of water can all help, but if your

persists, you may need to see a doctor to address any underlying health issues. However, here are some simple tips to follow to get rid of bad breath:

Follow the proper oral health regime

Don’t forget to brush twice a day. Whether it’s morning or night, brushing is a must. Due to busy schedules, people usually forget to brush at night or take it for granted, but this is the biggest mistake that they do. For maintaining oral hygiene, brushing twice is the key essential thing to follow.

Gum massages

According to Dr. Gunita Singh, B.D.S., M.D. Dental Lasers, “Spend some time with your gums, as they are the foundation of our teeth. Healthy gums are equal to healthy teeth. Massaging in a circular motion for 5 minutes in the morning and evening with the oil of your choice (olive oil, vitamin E oil, almond oil) can do wonders for your gums and oral health.”

Tongue cleaning should be a priority

Once a day, tongue cleaning with glycerin and cotton pad can prove to be magical not only for the lovely pink tongue but also for a bacteria-free oral cavity as a result of no bad breath.

Mouth wash

Rinse your mouth after every meal 2–3 times with a mouth wash of your choice. Swirl it for at least 30 secs each for the best results. When we talk about mouth washing, homemade mouth washes with mint leaves are the best way to beat bad breath.
Simple natural mouthwashes to make at home:
Boil mint leaves and use water to swish through your teeth. For a quick solution, you can use mint tea bags too.
Similarly, lemon and honey mouth washes are another mantra.
Eucalyptus oil 2–3 drops in 1/2 glass of water can be used too.

Eat food with less pungent smell

Stay away from foods with strong odors like raw onions, garlic, radish, and mustard. Specifically, when you know you are going to meet people that day. Do not eat raw onions right before heading out for an important event.

Keep yourself hydrated

Drink a lot of water to keep yourself hydrated and keep your oral cavity always clean. Drinking water often curbs too much bacteria buildup and regulates moisture in your mouth.

Chew fennel seeds

You can chew on a spoon of

fennel seeds

after every meal, excellent for digestion and as mouth freshener.
