Frequent urination with an abnormally large amount of urine is considered an early symptom of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes as the body tries to free itself of unused glucose through the urine. A recent study conducted on the Japanese population examined the connection between nocturia (waking up at night to urinate) and hypertension. Particularly, the individuals who experienced nocturia were found to have a 40% higher likelihood of developing hypertension.

This symptom should be taken very seriously as it can lead to more severe conditions like heart disease, heart attack, or angina. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), high blood pressure can lead to damage in organs like the heart, kidneys, and brain, and might lead to conditions such as stroke, heart attack, or kidney failure.
